A Door Company That Tells You to Wait

Blackteasociety replaces garage doors for homeowners across Huntington Beach and the neighbouring Orange County coast. We do the ordinary repairs too, springs, cables, rollers, openers, but the part of the job we have opinions about is the replacement, and specifically when a homeowner should pull the trigger on one.

Most door companies want the decision made today. We would rather you made it in the right month. A replacement door is a planned purchase for almost everybody who buys one, and a planned purchase bought in a hurry is the only version that costs more than it should. Demand for this trade swings hard through the year. Summer fills up with movers, remodels and people who have finally had enough of looking at a faded door. Winter fills up with storm damage and failures. In between those two there is a stretch where the phones go quiet, the factories shorten their queues, and the promotions come out. That is the window we point people at.

How We Work

• We quote early and the quote does not expire. You can take a measured, written price from us in June and use it in November. Nothing about the number needs a deadline attached to it.
• We keep deposits small. A deposit exists to get your door built, not to lock you in. On a stock size door it should be a modest slice of the total, with the balance due once the door is hung, balanced and running.
• We separate repairs from sales. If your spring breaks we will fix the spring. We are not going to use a trapped car as an opening position for a sales conversation.
• We build for the salt. Within a mile or two of the water, hardware choice matters more than door choice. Galvanised or stainless fasteners, sealed bearings and a rust resistant bottom bracket are worth the small upcharge here in a way they are not inland.
• We are licensed, insured and local. We are based on Goldenwest Street and a person answers the phone.
